Kelly Jazvac
Au cours des quinze dernières années, Kelly Jazvac a réalisé des œuvres d'art à partir de déchets plastiques provenant de l'industrie de la publicité, développant ainsi une manière plus durable de créer. Jazvac souhaite établir un lien entre l'environnement et les preuves présentes dans ces matériaux, c'est-à-dire certains comportements et attitudes propres à l'humain qui sont à l'origine de la crise climatique. Ces preuves sont représentées, symbolisées et physiquement intégrées dans les photographies trouvées qui constituent la majeure partie de sa pratique. Ses recherches collaboratives art/science ont été publiées dans des revues scientifiques telles que Nature Reviews, GSA Today et Science of the Total Environment. Jazvac fait également partie d'une équipe de recherche sur la pollution plastique appelée The Synthetic Collective qui comprend des scientifiques, des artistes, des historiens de l'art, des philosophes et des écrivains. Les travaux de ce groupe de recherche ont une grande influence sur la pratique artistique de Jazvac.
Kelly Jazvac est une artiste canadienne basée à Montréal. Son travail a été présenté au Musée d'art contemporain de Toronto (MOCA), au Centre Culturel Canadien à Paris, au Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, au Museum of Modern Art de New York, au Art Museum de l'Université de Toronto, au Eli and Edyth Broad Museum (East Lansing), au Ujazdowski Castle CCA (Varsovie) et à la FIERMAN Gallery (New York). Son travail a fait l'objet d'articles dans National Geographic, e-flux Journal, Hyperallergic, Art Forum, The New Yorker, Canadian Art Magazine et The Brooklyn Rail. Son travail est inclus dans les collections du Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC), de RBC et de la Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ).
