Sameer Farooq

Sameer Farooq est un artiste canadien de descendance pakistanaise et indienne de l’Ouganda. Avec une approche polyvalente qui oscille entre la sculpture, la photographie, le film documentaire et les méthodes anthropologiques, il étudie les stratégies de représentation afin d'élargir les façons dont les musées ont considéré le passé à travers des formes traditionnelles de collection, d'interprétation et d'exposition. Farooq entreprend des modèles communautaires de production de connaissances et un éventail de pratiques contemplatives afin de suggérer de nouvelles façons de raconter nos histoires culturelles. Le résultat est souvent une œuvre collaborative qui contrebalance la façon dont les institutions dominantes parlent de nos vies : une contre-archive, de nouveaux ajouts à la collection d'un musée, ou une histoire enfouie rendue visible.
